Counsel / Partner Attorney

About the Role:

A leading full-service law firm is seeking experienced Counsel and Partner-level Attorneys to join its growing team across any of its established practice areas. This opportunity is ideal for accomplished attorneys who are looking to expand their practice within a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused environment while enjoying significant autonomy and long-term career growth.

The firm welcomes attorneys with 6+ years of legal experience, with an ideal range of 8 10 years, who have demonstrated excellence in client service, legal strategy, and business development. Candidates may join as Counsel if they possess strong legal expertise and a proven record of business development, even with little or no portable book of business. Attorneys with a substantial portable book of business may be considered for Partner.

The position offers flexibility to work from any of the firm's Michigan offices, with a preference for candidates interested in the firm's headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on sophisticated legal matters within your area of practice.
  • Manage complex legal matters from strategy through successful resolution.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through exceptional legal counsel and responsive service.
  • Lead negotiations, transactions, litigation, regulatory matters, or other legal work appropriate to your practice area.
  • Mentor and collaborate with associates and junior attorneys to support professional development.
  • Work closely with attorneys across multiple practice groups to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the firm through business development, networking, and client expansion initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships and develop new business.
  • Maintain the highest standards of legal ethics, professionalism, and client advocacy.
  • Stay informed of legal developments affecting clients and your practice area.



    Required Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (Michigan admission or eligibility to practice in Michigan preferred).
  • 6+ years of legal experience, with 8 10 years preferred, in a law firm or comparable legal environment.
  • Significant experience within one or more established legal practice areas.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sophisticated client matters independently.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proven business development experience and the ability to cultivate lasting client relationships.Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.



    Additional Qualifications for Partner Candidates :
  • Established portable book of business.
  • Demonstrated history of originating and maintaining significant client relationships.
  • Proven leadership experience and commitment to practice growth.
  • Ability to mentor attorneys and contribute to the firm's long-term strategic success.
