Job Description

Part-Time Digital Content Coordinator

Heartland is seeking a passionate and self-motivated Part-Time Digital Content Coordinator to help us share the story and mission of our church and the stories of life on the journey with Jesus with our community through compelling video and social media content. This entry-level role is responsible for the full social content lifecycle, from capturing and editing video to daily posting and community engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Video Content Creation & Editing (Primary Focus)

  • Capture short-form, high-quality video clips (interviews, ministry highlights, testimonials, event previews, Sundays at Heartland, etc.) using a smartphone or other basic video equipment. This includes partnerships with Heartland Kids, MiX /MOVE, MVMT, and YA content.
  • Edit captured footage into engaging, platform-specific content (e.g., Reels, Shorts, TikToks) using standard video editing software.
  • Ensure all video and media align with the church’s brand, values, and messaging.
  • Assist in capturing and processing clips from weekend sermons for promotional use.
  • Edit the Sunday sermon and load it to YouTube, the website, RSS/Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.

2. Social Media Management & Copywriting

  • Develop and maintain a rolling content calendar for all primary church social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), including partnerships with Heartland Kids, MiX / MOVE, MVMT, and YA content.
  • Draft clear, engaging, and grammatically correct copy for all scheduled posts to ensure accurate communication of events, announcements, and messages.
  • All copy must align with the Heartland brand story and current strategic language.
  • Schedule content to maximize reach and engagement across various platforms.
  • Monitor all platforms for new trends and features to keep the church's content fresh and relevant.

3. Community Engagement & Administration

  • Actively monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and mentions on all social media platforms in a timely, professional, and Jesus-centered manner.
  • Help develop and coordinate volunteers in the video content/social media space to expand our reach.
  • Track and report on basic social media analytics (e.g., reach, engagement rate, video views) to inform future content strategy.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders and staff to gather content and communication needs.
  • Organize archive footage and images for easy retrieval and integration in future projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college coursework in Communications, Marketing, Video Production, or a related field is a plus.

Experience: Prior experience creating content for social media platforms (personal, academic, or professional). Experience with basic video editing software (e.g., Adobe Rush, CapCut, or Premiere Pro) is required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in capturing and editing video, particularly short-form content.
  • Excellent written communication and copywriting skills.
  • Working knowledge of primary social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Character: Must demonstrate a personal commitment to living a Jesus-first life, and to the mission and vision of Heartland.

  • Reports to the Communication Director
  • Member of the Creative + Worship Team
  • Interacts with all staff and ministry leaders

SCHEDULE

  • This is a part-time position (20-29 hours/week).
  • Weekly rhythm: Sunday–Thursday, with regular weekend and holiday ministry presence required.
  • Flexibility: Occasional evenings, Fridays, or Saturdays for events, retreats, or special ministry needs.
