Job Description

Basic Job Requirements (required):

Drug Screening (post hire at employer's expense and is not part of the interview process) Lift and carry up to 50 pounds Exposure to extreme temperature and sun, and other inclement weather conditions Perform repetitive movements and extended periods of walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, including overhead reaching while pruning for extended periods. Push and pull carts, bins, ladders, and equipment, and safely climb ladders up to 6 ft. while maintaining balance. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Job Duties:

Crops/Commodities: Apples and Peaches Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Workers will perform a variety of duties associated with the production of peaches and apples. Primary duties include adjusting crop load on peach and apple trees by hand thinning to ensure proper fruit size and quality; harvesting peaches and apples by hand using appropriate tools and techniques to prevent damage to fruit and trees; sorting, grading, and packaging harvested fruit according to size, quality, and market standards; pruning peach and apple trees using hand tools and equipment to maintain tree health, structure, and productivity; operating farm equipment and machinery used in planting, cultivating, harvesting, pruning, and transporting crops; handling and transporting harvested fruit to designated packing or storage areas; and following all food safety and quality control guidelines during harvesting and packing operations. Secondary duties (performed on less than half of the workdays in the contract period): Perform general orchard and farm maintenance such as removing debris, clearing brush, and maintaining clean work areas; assisting with irrigation activities including setting up, operating, monitoring, and repairing irrigation systems; applying fertilizers, soil amendments, and other crop inputs as directed; maintaining, cleaning, and repairing tools, equipment, and facilities; assisting with planting, replanting, and training of young trees; installing, maintaining, and removing orchard support systems such as trellises, stakes, and netting; loading and unloading agricultural products, materials, and supplies; performing field sanitation, cleanup activities, and pest management support activities; driving farm vehicles for transporting workers, tools, or crops on the farm if properly licensed; and performing other general farm labor duties as assigned that are related to the production of peaches and apples. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property. In assessing whether workers' performance meets reasonable expectations, employer evaluates, among other reasonable criteria, whether the worker: (1) has adequately complied with the Work Rules and any other policies or procedures; (2) has complied with all health and safety guidelines, including the use of tools or equipment in accordance with best practices to protect the employer's property, crops, and in a manner that avoids injury or damage; (3) has treated company property (tools, equipment, crops, fixtures, etc.
