️ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (with occasional evenings and weekends as needed)

The Senior Grants Manager plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission by overseeing the full lifecycle of its grant portfolio—from research and proposal development to submission, reporting, and compliance. This position ensures all grant-related efforts are aligned with organizational priorities, funding requirements, and long-term strategic goals. The Senior Grants Manager also serves as a key liaison between program teams, finance, and external funding partners.

In close collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, the Grants, Compliance, and Audit Manager (direct report), as well as the CEO, Chief Program Officer, and broader leadership team, this role manages a diverse portfolio of approximately $4M in foundation funding and $2M in government grants, helping drive meaningful and measurable community impact.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly oversee the Grants, Compliance, and Audit Manager, providing guidance, support, and accountability.
• Manages team workflows using JA’s project management tools to ensure efficiency, alignment, and timely execution.
• Provides oversight and leadership in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Empowers team members to take ownership of their roles and professional goals by delegating responsibility, setting clear expectations, and encouraging accountability and regular feedback.
• Cultivates a collaborative and inclusive team environment that values creativity, diversity, problem-solving, innovation, authenticity, honesty, mutual respect, and shared commitment to the mission.
• Promotes and reinforces a team culture that reflects and advances JASF’s mission, vision, and values.
• Leads staff through a structured performance management and professional development process, including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and performance and growth planning to maximize individual and team contributions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Grant Research & Strategy
  • Research, identify, and assess prospective funding opportunities from foundation, corporate, and government sources to support organizational priorities.
  • Partner closely with organizational leadership and program teams to ensure grant‑seeking strategies are aligned with mission, goals, and programmatic needs.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track deadlines and proactively plan timely, high‑quality submissions.
  • Proactively cultivate new funding relationships by soliciting prospective funders through targeted outreach, presentations (both small and large group), and engagement with corporate partners and foundations.

• Proposal Development & Submission
  • Lead the preparation, writing, editing, and timely submission of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and all required supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all submissions fully comply with funder guidelines, deadlines, and internal quality standards.
  • Collaborate with relevant staff to collect and synthesize program data, outcome metrics, and compelling narratives to support funding requests.

• Grant Management & Compliance
  • Provide strategic oversight of the organization’s active grant portfolio, partnering with a direct report to ensure full compliance with funder requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Guide the preparation and submission of accurate, timely grant reports, budgets, and financial documentation—strengthening funder trust, supporting audit readiness, and positioning the organization for renewal and expanded funding opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive grant records, including agreements, correspondence, and deliverables, to ensure transparency, accountability, and institutional knowledge across the grants lifecycle.

• Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with funders and partners through a variety of communication methods including planned site visits.
  • Serve as the primary contact for funder inquiries and site visits.
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to develop and implement recognition programs that are of interest and value to supporting partners.
  • Support stewardship efforts, including acknowledgment letters and impact reporting.

• Department Management
  • Enhance the effectiveness of grant writing and progress tracking by designing and implementing efficient workflows and procedures that ensure accurate, timely collection and reporting of grant data.
  • Serve as a key organizational leader by actively contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, and cross‑functional leadership initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the departmental budget to ensure responsible stewardship of resources and alignment with organizational priorities.

• Data & Impact Reporting
  • Track grant outcomes, key performance indicators, and program metrics.
  • Provide actionable insights to leadership to inform program planning and funding strategies.

Contributes to additional initiatives that support the organization’s mission and priorities.

⭐ Key experience and expertise you would bring to the role would include:

• Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree preferred (e.g., MPA, MBA, Nonprofit Management).
• 5+ years of experience in grant writing and management.
• Proven success securing and stewarding significant grant funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Being an effective communicator – both written and verbal, and the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
• Strong project management capabilities, with proven ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple funding initiatives simultaneously.
• Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in grant documentation and data management.
• Analytical skills to interpret data and translate into compelling narratives.
• Collaborative interpersonal skills that support productive working relationships across teams and with senior leadership.
• Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and driving results.
• Proficiency with grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexible, adaptable, and energized by working in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and occasionally required to reach, bend, lift, or climb.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
