Welcome to Edda (eddacoffee.com) - Operated by Harbor Bay Hospitality, Edda is located in INTRO – Cleveland’s exciting mixed-use project, which features nearly 300 new apartments, an acre of green space, and a lavish top-floor event venue directly across the street from the historic West Side Market.

Edda is a beautiful and airy all-day cafe, powered by our own female-led roastery. We are coffee people focused on customer service, and our goal is to brighten everyone's day with the most delicious coffee and house made pastries in town. We offer a delicious menu of hot breakfast, salads, sandwiches, and soups alongside seasonal beverages and custom drinks. Stop in and experience our bright and bustling cafe!

We are looking for a barista passionate about specialty coffee who can brew a great cup of coffee and help us provide exceptional customer experiences to our guests. A successful barista will be committed to the job and shows initiative in enhancing the reputation of our café. This person should be an excellent salesperson, hospitable and a great team player with a knack for problem-solving and attention to detail. A qualified candidate must be skilled in using various coffee preparation techniques and coffee brewing and grinding equipment, but must also be able to cater to our guests' needs, upsell when appropriate, and build long-lasting customer relationships.

Essential Functions: 

• Preparing coffee using various preparation techniques and equipment.
• Selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment.
• Providing menu recommendations and additional information.
• Selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment.
• Handling cash and credit transactions.
• Maintaining inventory and managing storage and supplies.
• Maintaining a safe, healthy, and appealing work environment.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Education / Experience / Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Prior barista experience is not necessary, however a strong interest and passion for specialty coffee is required.
• Problem solver and analytical thinker: works constructively to solve problems and learn from mistakes, anticipates the needs of personnel and guests, “sees around corners”- works proactively to prevent issues from arising; exercises common sense and good judgment.
• Maintains composure under pressure, remains calm and courteous in difficult situations.
• Willingness to learn and accommodate industry changes and company directives.
• Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as business demands; ability to work flexible hours as required.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a restaurant/event environment. This role requires primarily standing and walking during entire shift. Work environment is fast-paced and team member must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout a shift. Exposure to cold and heat may occur on regular basis throughout a shift (entering refrigeration equipment, multiple industrial/food service and exposure to cooking appliances).
