Job Description

EMS Unlimited (Event Medical Solutions Unlimited, LLC) is a paramedic-owned, veteran-operated ground ambulance company founded in 2012 and headquartered in Rifle, Colorado. We provide ALS, BLS, and Critical Care Transport services across multiple states, operate an active federal contract portfolio, and run a dedicated wildland fire and disaster response team under USDA Forest Service Blanket Purchase Agreements. All employees are direct W-2 hires — no agencies, no contractors.

This position supports our newly awarded U.S. Army contract (W81K0026CA004) providing 24/7/365 ground ambulance emergency response services at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Paramedic delivers Advanced Life Support emergency medical care at Fort Leavenworth Garrison around the clock. As the clinical lead of a two-person crew on a 24/48 or 48/96 schedule, you execute the full ALS scope — IV/IO access, pharmacology, advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and defibrillation — under Kansas protocols and Medical Director standing orders. This is a high-acuity, mission-critical role serving an active military installation that relies on EMS Unlimited as its sole ground ambulance provider.

Location  Fort Leavenworth, KS — Fire Station #2

Schedule 24/48 or 48/96 rotating schedule

Employment Type  Full-Time W-2 Employee

Reports To  Senior Paramedic / On-Site Program Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls within 2 minutes of dispatch from within the assigned area of responsibility
  • Lead the two-person crew as the clinical decision-maker at all ALS scenes
  • Perform patient assessments and deliver ALS care per Kansas EMS protocols and Medical Director standing orders
  • Administer medications via IV, IM, or IO per protocols; verify with Medical Director as required
  • Manage airways using advanced techniques (intubation, supraglottic airway, surgical airway per authorization)
  • Acquire and interpret 12-lead ECGs; transmit to receiving facilities as needed
  • Provide CPR and full ALS resuscitation including defibrillation for cardiac arrest patients
  • Safely operate an emergency transport vehicle to and from scenes and receiving facilities
  • Complete ZOLL emsCharts ePCRs within 2 hours of each encounter; document all ALS interventions accurately
  • Conduct daily vehicle readiness checks and document in PSTrax; maintain PAR levels for ALS medications and equipment
  • Maintain DEA-controlled substance chain of custody per PSTrax and Medical Director protocols
  • Operate under the Fort Leavenworth installation emergency response plan and follow Incident Commander instructions
  • Provide assistance to Fort Leavenworth Army Corrections Command incidents when requested
  • Participate in QA/QI peer review and required continuing education
  • Complete all government-required training: AT Level I (30 days), PII, HIPAA, OPSEC, iWATCH, MHS Genesis

Compensation

  • $80,000 annual equivalent
  • Health and Wellness benefit of $5.09/hr

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA), which requires EMS Unlimited to provide a Health & Welfare (H&W) benefit of $5.09 per hour worked. H&W is a federally mandated fringe benefit — it is not discretionary. The $5.09/hr can be applied in one of two ways: it can be directed toward your share of the company's medical benefits plan (health, dental, vision), effectively reducing or eliminating your out-of-pocket premium cost; or, if you waive employer-sponsored coverage and provide proof of other qualifying coverage, it can be paid to you as cash in lieu of benefits, added directly to your paycheck. Either way, you receive the full value — it is part of your total compensation, not a deduction from your base pay.

Benefits and Culture

  • AT&T FirstNet device, ZOLL emsCharts, and full EMS Unlimited technology stack
  • Peer recognition through Bonusly
  • Growth opportunities in a fast-expanding multi-state EMS organization
  • Direct W-2 employment — no agencies, no middlemen

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Army installation background investigation (NACI or equivalent)
  • U.S. citizenship or authorized to work in the United States
